Set the ten levers. Each full crank turn adds or subtracts at the selected carriage position.

Machine ready.

Try back-transfer

Set 27, shift to column 2, crank + three times, return to column 1 and crank + eight times. The result is 1026. Clear input, engage transfer and clear result. The setting register will now contain 1026, ready for another multiplication.
